Program Focus – the new Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU)

The Department of Oceanography and the Geochemical & Environmental Research Group (GERG) at Texas A&M University have launched a new Research Experience for Undergraduates program that focuses on "Observing the Ocean: hypoxia, harmful algae, oil spills and ocean acidification.
Ten students are learning and applying ocean observation science and technology to address specific environmental questions:
Ashley Davis – University of South Carolina – is working with Dr. Shamberger
Veronica De Pascuale – Oberlin College – is working with Dr. Sylvan
Priscilla Flores – Houston Community College – is working with Dr. Campbell
Mandy Frazier – University of Miami – is working with Dr. Klein (Geography)
Heath Goertzen – Bethel College Newton – is working with Dr. Yvon-Lewis
Nathan Lanning – University of New Haven – is working with Dr. Fitzsimmons
Rayna Nolen – Colorado College – is working with Dr. Gold-Bouchot
Andrew Pressly – University of Tampa – is working with Dr. DiMarco
Chase Martin – Texas A&M University – is working with Mr. Walpert
Alex Pappas – University of Texas – is working with Dr. DiMarco
